Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Jan 11 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day, a day to remember those who are trapped in a life of slavery that few of us can truly understand.  Please pray for the victims of such slavery today and everyday.

I saw a quote by Nelson Mandela today “To be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”  Such a great quote by a great man. This quote was said in reference to those enslaved in apartheid and has be used in more recent times in reference to the slavery of human trafficking. The quote got me thinking about my own life and the sins that enslave me. Sin enslaves each of us and keeps us from living the life God intended for us, a life of freedom in Christ. A freedom that allows us to love others as Christ has loved us. A freedom that allows us to respect and enhance the lives of others. A freedom that can be used to stop human trafficking in our life time. The only way we can live our life free of the chains of sin is through Christ. The bible is a great place to start as we seek God’s help to break free of our chains. Hebrews 4:16 tells us “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence,  so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” We need Christ to free us from the chains of sin. We need Christ to free this world of modern day slavery. Seek Him who is able to free you.

Please take time today to become more aware of the ravages of human trafficking in the world around you. We work in Nepal and Myanmar to try to rescue vulnerable children before they become victims of human trafficking. Human trafficking is everywhere and it will take all of us to stop it. Please pray for all the victims and pray for the Lord to show you how you can make a difference.
