James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
We all have needs in our life. We have basic needs like food, water and shelter. In the developed world, we have other needs to help us survive like jobs and education. Life can be a struggle to provide for our own needs and the needs of our families.
Nevertheless, God calls us to do more. As seen in James 1:27 He calls us to look after the “orphans and widows” of the world. What would this calling look like in our daily life? We can visit those forgotten by society. We can speak words of comfort into their emptiness. We can provide for their needs. God will provide you with enough to help the orphans and widows He puts in your path. Don’t know any poor or needy people, then find an organization that will help you connect to those in need.
No matter how poor you think you are, God can show you someone poorer. God will show you someone who needs your help. Whom can you help today?
May the Lord Bless you and keep.
