Isaiah 1:19 “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;

Isaiah 25:6 “On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine– the best of meats and the finest of wines.”

When I go on a mission trip, I always hope I will lose weight. Let me dispel a myth about mission work, you do not ever lose weight. Most places we go will put on a spread of food for us. Even with their lack of money, they feed us really well. They want us to feel welcome after traveling so far to work with them and help them. Everyone in the village will bring a dish or two and before long, the table becomes filled with every kind of wonderful local dish. I love sharing these meals together with the people in our host country.

Today’s verse in Isaiah 1:19, above, reminds me of these feast. It says. “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;” I follow Christ on His missions to the orphans and I get to enjoy the good things of the land in the countries I work. As these verses show us, God wants to prepare a feast for each of us. He wants to bless us abundantly in everything we do. All He asks in return is for each of us to be obedient to Christ and His word. Following Christ’s way can lead to abundant feast in our lives. I have witnessed this in my own life as I follow Jesus on the mission field. My life is full of all kinds of banquets that bless me beyond my wildest dreams. You can experience such a life too, just follow God’s calling on your life.
