How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways. As we prepare for Valentine’s Day, let us review all the ways God loves us.

A Valentine Card from God.

I love you so much; I sent my Son to die on the cross to save you from your sins, and so we could spend eternity together.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

I love you so much; I will adopt you as my sons and daughters, and you will inherit eternal life.

1 John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

I love you so much; I will give you hope, and a future. I plan to show you the way to go, and we can work together to make a difference in the world.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I love you so much; I will forgive you when you sin against me and return to me.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

I love you so much; I will carry your burdens so you can rest in my loving embrace.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

I love you so much; I know everything about you, and I care for every aspect of your life.

Matthew 10:30 “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

I love you so much; I will make sure everything works out for your good when you work for me.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

And I love you so much; that I will teach you how to love others so that you can live in peace.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Do you love me? Will you be my Valentine?

“I love you so much; I will adopt you as my sons and daughters, and you will inherit eternal life.”
This is my favorite Valentine from God! I think it’s hard for children who are abused and abandoned to see God differently than the parental figures that were in their lives early on, but what a joy and what love – when that realization happens. I’m so thankful that we are children of God and nothing can ever change that. Thank you for your post! So many Valentines from the Source of Love.

Thank you Peggy. It is such a incredible gift to be considered sons and daughters of the most High. Happy Valentines and God bless

  2. A beautiful Valentine’s Day post, which is just as good the day after as on the day itself. Thank you for this list of the many reminders of God’s love for us. What a Savior! Our God is a God of love, mercy, and grace!

Yvonne, thank you for sharing these reminders of the most beautiful love of all. What a blessing and comfort we have in these promises.

  4. I appreciate all of these thoughts and verses, Yvonne. Probably top of my list is this one: “I love you so much; I will forgive you when you sin against me and return to me.” Somehow, God’s love meets me even after I sin. Such a merciful and blessed reality.

  5. Yvonne, what lovely truths!! My favorite verse is, “Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God’s Valentine card to us is THE BEST!! Thank you for sharing:)
