Does He Love Me?
Do any of you remember using a daisy to determine if a boy loved you or not? We wonder, Does he love me? On one petal, we would say, “He loves me,” and on the next petal we would say, “He loves me not.” The game would continue until all the flower disappeared. This method determined how a young man felt about us. The game seems silly now, but the entertainment came from the daydreaming of possibilities of finding our one true connection.

Through His love, we learn acceptance and surrender of self to His perfect will. Click To Tweet
As we fast forward to today, do we still search to know if someone loves us? I think we all seek for that feeling that comes with being loved. Many people spend their entire lives looking for that special feeling. But, why do some people never find the emotion that fulfills them? Someone once told me that we are all born with a hole in our hearts that can only be filled by one person. So, who can satisfy that need?
Jesus Provides
You may have already guessed the answer, Jesus. When we accept the love of Christ and respond in kind to Him, we are changed. God completes us and fills up our hearts. Through His deep affections, we learn acceptance and surrender of self to His perfect will. We also find peace that transcends human understanding. In Christ, we see the the emotions we wanted.
Our Father in heaven is a God of love. He wrote an intimate letter to all of us in the form of the Bible. When we feel unwanted, unappreciated, or just plain hated, the Bible offers us a multitude of verses to remind us that we are loved. If we use the Bible like the daisy, all the petals will tell us He is devoted to us. We don’t need to guess how God feels about us. Below, I included a list of my ten favorite Bible verses on God’s tenderness. I hope you enjoy them too.

I also included a free printout of these ten Bible verses. You can refer back to them anytime you are feeling unloved by the world. He will never leave us or forsake us. He cares us so much that He died on the cross so we could be together for all eternity. Not many people would lay down their life to show their affections, but Jesus did.

My favorite scripture out the ones you listed is 1 Chronicles 16:34, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” It’s more of a phrase that is within the passage, “His love endures forever.” This phrase is seen in other passages you have listed as well. God’s love is forever. People love us today, hate us tomorrow, forget about us in time, but not with God. His love for us at the beginning is the same today and will be forever. He loves us fiercely with a holy jealously. Pondering this truth gives me great comfort, especially as we live in a world where hatred seems to trump anything good. Love this post, Yvonne! 🙂
Thanks so much Marcie. You are correct , knowing His love for us endures forever offers so much comfort. No matter how much others turn to hate, He never will. What an amazing blessing to know. God bless
John 3:16 is my favorite. That is the first Scripture my Daddy taught me when I was a little girl.
What a wonderful memory and a great verse to teach to our children and grandchildren. Thanks Melissa and God bless
This is so important to every life – to understand the love of God and believe that it is personal.
Seems so basic, but it is amazing how many people live short of the love of God!
Thanks Yvonne!
Thanks Pam. You are so correct. Thanks and God bless
I was just reading this morning in Isaiah 41 where God tells Israel He has chosen them and not forsaken them. He went to the ends of the earth to find them. I was really impacted by that today with the realization that even when it seems the people around me are rejecting me, God chose me. No matter how I succeed or fail, God still chooses me!
Amen Emily. We are so far beyond blessed. Thanks and God bless
Love seeing all these verses collected in one place!
Thanks Ava. I think it helps me to see them all together too. God bless
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.1 John 4:10
What a great way to remember this truth of His love for His children. Thanks, Yvonne.
Amen Beth. We can love because He showed us love first. Thanks and God bless
Love the metaphor. Great post, Yvonne. God bless!
Thank you Nancy. I appreciate you visiting and commenting. God bless
These are wonderful, love-filled, foundational verses, Yvonne. Where would we be without them? It’s so cool that our lives have meaning because of Jesus’ love for us. Thank you for this boost of joy.
You are so welcome Stephen. We all need to be reminded of His great love ❤️. God bless
Beautiful, Yvonne! How we need to reset our minds and hearts each day with the magnitude of God’s love for us. Though I love all of the verses you listed here, one of my favorites is Romans 5:8. God demonstrates His own love for us in this, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Thank you, Jesus!
That is another great verse. There are so many. God’s love is so hard for us to truly understand but it is wonderful. Thanks and God bless.
Wonderful reminders of God’s love! Thank you for the printout!
Thank you Melinda. Hope all is well. God bless
Love this, Yvonne. When I first starting writing 4-5 years ago, one of my first published magazine articles and online devotions was on the theme of your intro: “He loves me, He loves me not.” While it’s sometimes hard to grasp the great love of God for us, we can never say about the heavenly Father, “He loves me not.” It is always, “He loves me, He loves me, He loves me.”
How amazing Karen. I love how God does that with us. Thanks and God bless
Thank you for this wonderful resource! Yes, He loves us…He really does!!
Thanks so much S. A. God bless
Zephaniah 3:17 has always held a special place in my heart. I spent six years of infertility before being blessed with my daughter and I haven’t stopped singing over her since! (She’s 16.) This idea of God rejoicing over me with singing blesses me tremendously. Thank you for sharing!
So amazing, God is good. Thanks for sharing your story and God bless
Thank God for His great love which surpasses all my expectations and comes in spite of all my flaws. I love this verse: 1John 3:1 CEB “See what kind of love the Father has given to us in that we should be called God’s children, and that is what we are!”
Amen Jessica. His love and grace are unmatched for us. Truly awesome to be a child of God. Thanks and God bless
